Your payment is protected.
When you pay through Swaddl, your money doesn't go straight to anyone. We hold it safely and release it to your doula as your care actually happens — so you're never paying ahead into the unknown.
Held safely
Your payment sits with Swaddl, not handed over up front.
Released as you go
Your doula is paid for the care she's actually completed.
A human if needed
If something goes wrong, Mia helps make it right.
Where your money actually goes
When you sign your contract and pay, your payment is held by Swaddl — it is not immediately paid out to your doula. Think of Swaddl as the safe middle: we hold the funds so both you and your doula are protected.
Payments are processed securely through Stripe, the same infrastructure used by millions of businesses. Swaddl never sees or stores your full card details.
How it's released to your doula
Your doula is paid out for the shifts she's completed, on a regular weekly schedule — not all at once, and not before the care happens. Each shift is confirmed before it counts toward a payout, so what you pay for is what you actually receive.
You'll always be able to see your contract, your payments, and your upcoming care right inside Swaddl — nothing happens in the dark.
If something goes wrong
Life with a newborn is unpredictable, and we plan for that. If a shift is missed, a doula needs coverage, or something doesn't go the way it should, the funds we're holding mean we have room to make it right — including arranging backup coverage or issuing a refund for care that wasn't delivered.
You're never left to sort it out alone. Mia reviews these personally — a real person, not an automated line.
If you have benefits (like Carrot)
If your employer offers a benefit like Carrot, Maven, or Progyny, you pay for your care through Swaddl and we prepare a benefit-ready invoice so you can be reimbursed. We handle the formatting and the provider details that reimbursements usually trip on — so the money comes back to you as smoothly as possible.
A few common questions
Do I pay everything up front?
You pay through Swaddl when you sign, but that money is held by us and released to your doula as she completes your care — not paid out to her all at once.
What happens if my doula can't make a shift?
We help arrange backup coverage from the network, and you're only ever charged for care that's actually delivered. If a shift can't be covered, the funds we hold can be refunded.
Is my card information safe?
Yes. Payments run through Stripe, and Swaddl never sees or stores your full card number.
